James “Kevin” Burroughs, born February 17, 1967, in Cleveland Tennessee passed away on April 12, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family in Athens, Georgia.
Kevin lived a life marked by deep faith, service, and devotion to others. He spent his years as a pastor and missionary, faithfully answering his calling and dedicating his life to bringing others to Christ. Whether at home or abroad, Kevin’s passion for ministry and his heart for people left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He attended Lee University, graduated in 1991, followed by a masters degree in Organizational Leadership in 2017. He moved to Atlanta and lived with a roommate, Jeff Parsons, when he met his wife, Hope Burroughs, the cousin of Jeff. Together, they built a beautiful life, shared 32 years of marriage, and had 3 children together.
Kevin lived in South Carolina, Tennessee, Germany, Georgia, and Florida, embracing each place and the people in it with warmth and purpose. Outside of his ministry, he found joy in mountain biking, cooking, and, most importantly, spending time with his family.
Above all, Kevin was a devoted father. His greatest pride and joy were his children, Nikolaus, Hannah, and Chloe. His love for them was unwavering, and his legacy will live on through their lives.
He is survived by his loving parents, Rudy and Barbara Burroughs; his former wife and close friend, Hope Mossman Burroughs; and his children, Nikolaus, Hannah, and Chloe. He had six beautiful grandchildren, Mason, Camden, Liam, Mia, Ivy, and Bodie. He was preceded in death by his brother, and best friend, Keith Burroughs.
Kevin will be remembered for his strong faith, kind spirit, and the countless lives he touched through his ministry and love. His life was a testament to grace, compassion, and the power of a life lived.
The memorial service for Kevin Burroughs will be held this Saturday, April 18th, 2026, at 2pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson, South Carolina.
All are invited to attend this occasion to honor and celebrate Kevin's life.
